Dermot Buffini interviews Ken Coleman, a career coach, author and host of “The Ken Coleman Show” podcast, as well as a co-host of “The Ramsey Show,” the second-largest talk show in the nation.
1. The Power of Vulnerability
It’s ok to be not ok — and admit you still have work to do on yourself, Coleman said. When you do, your team will recognize that you have self-awareness, humility and begin to trust you more.
2. Bad Leaders Are Not Bad People
“Hurting people hurt people,” Coleman said.
In order to be at your best, you need to prioritize your personal health — both physical and mental.
3. What’s The Purpose?
Paychecks are important but teams need to also know the underlying purpose for what they are trying to achieve, he stressed, in order to be at their best.
4. Acknowledge Your Members as Unique Individuals
Leaders who want to help their teams thrive and grow need to help them find the work they are “wired” to do and recognize their individual unique contributions.
“They want to know that you care about them as a person, and they want to know that you care about their success as a professional,” Coleman added.
