Many people ask me, “Joe, how can I become a top producer?” Being a top real estate producer takes time, hard work and dedication. I’ve been a top producer in the business for well over two decades, and in that time I’ve learned a thing or two about boosting production and generating more income. The first thing is you need a system that helps you work smarter, one like the work by referral system, which earns our agents and lenders up to eight times the national average.

The second thing you need is support to help you stay on track during your journey to success. Here are seven tips that will help you achieve higher production and more success.

  1. Get connected. Jim Rohn said you’re the average of the five people you spend the most time with—make sure they’re top producing agents. When you network with other motivated, high-producing agents, you’ll become more motivated to ramp up your production and succeed as well.
  2. Keep your energy high. The higher your energy, the more stamina you have to be productive. Boost your energy by making time for exercise every day, or at least 45 minutes, three days a week. It doesn’t matter what you do—go for a run or bike ride, take a walk at lunchtime or take a fitness class. All that matters is that you get your blood flowing.
  3. Sharpen your skills. I’ve said it many times, “It’s your skills that pay the bills.” When you don’t use your skills, you become less effective to your clients. Keep your skills sharp through training. Training gives you the tips and strategies you need to improve your skills and give your clients the best service.
  4. Set goals. One of my favorite quotes is, “Most people aim for nothing and hit it with amazing accuracy.” Goals give you a clear direction of where you’re going. They give you something to strive for. If you want to increase your production, set a specific goal, like “I’m going to increase by production by 25% by November.” Then set milestones along the way to help you get there. Just be sure you write your goals down and review them regularly for maximum impact.
  5. Take time to reflect. Life can be chaotic. It’s normal to become so caught up in the hectic pace of life that you don’t take the time to reflect on your goals, refocus your energy and plan for the future. I try to schedule 30 minutes each week to reflect. I say ‘schedule’ because planning is the only way to ensure I’ll take the time to do it. Taking a break will help you stay on track to boost your production.
  6. Immerse yourself in self-improvement. Why? To keep your motivation high, of course! Not only that, you can learn from the experiences of others, gaining inspiration from their challenges and triumphs. The more inspired you are, the more likely you are to boost your production and thrive.
  7. Invest in yourself. Ben Franklin said, “If a person empties their purse into their head, no one will be able to take it from them. An investment in your self always pays the highest dividends.” Whether you invest in books, events, training or coaching—or better yet, all four—spending money on your future is sure to pay off in higher productivity.
