Start Your Real Estate Teams off on the Right Foot This Year

Start Your Real Estate Teams off on the Right Foot This Year

Research from the National Association of REALTORS® shows that 26% of agents are on a team. And it makes sense —real estate teams can be a great way for agents to get some joint accountability as well as a sense of community. If you’re a real estate team leader, you have an extra responsibility to make sure your team has what they need to succeed!

Start your agents off on the right foot in 2020. Check out these team building tips to motivate, encourage and support your squad.

1. Set Team Goals

When you set goals as a team, you make sure everyone is on the same page. Get the team together and set some goals as a group — for example, making a certain number of transactions per month, or hosting one client party per quarter. Keep those goals present so that team members know what they’re working toward day-to-day. These team goals shouldn’t replace individual goals, but rather, they should feed into them. Don’t forget to schedule monthly or quarterly check-in meetings to stay on track!

2. Promote Personal Development

Figure out a personal development routine that works best for your team. Perhaps it’s a team book club, where you read one personal growth book per month and discuss it over lunch. Or maybe you as the team leader send a weekly podcast list with your favorite motivational podcasts. When your team feels confident in themselves and their abilities, they’ll become all around better players! Plus, younger agents are seeking out companies with outstanding cultures, so creating this positive environment can also help recruit a few fresh faces to your team.

3. Take real estate training together

Seek out real estate training programs that your team can take as a group. These should instruct you on the fundamentals of sound business and equip you with the skills to achieve more. You can lead the course to your whole team, providing breakfast, coffee and other goodies. Not only will the team bond, but they will also sharpen their skills in the best way. Check out The Pathway to Mastery®—Essentials for a sure-fire real estate training course to get you started.

4. Attend a Real Estate Networking Event

Get to know the other agents or real estate teams in your region! Look for real estate events near you that get you out of the office to learn from other agents and real estate trainers. These events are another great way to boost team morale and get closer as a group. You should also come away with new strategies to implement in your day-to-day, which will help you grow together. Buffini & Company Master Class is a new event launched this year — that’s one you and your team won’t want to miss.

5. Lead by Example

Think about what behaviors and work ethics you’d like to see from your team, and exemplify that in everything you do! Remember to develop yourself as well, so that you can remain an upstanding leader and a great example for your agents. Leading by example promotes that positive culture that leads to happier, more productive agents.

With one month down and eleven to go, 2020 is going to fly by. Start building up your real estate teams now so that you’re ready to take on whatever the market throws you in the months ahead! My best advice? Get your real estate team in The Pathway to Mastery—Essentials as soon as possible. This real estate agent training course from Buffini & Company covers the fundamentals of great business and how to crush it in any market. Check it out, and happy new year!
