How to Build a Non-Anxious Life with Dr. John Delony

Do you want to reduce anxiety and live a more authentic and fulfilling life? In a recent podcast episode, Dr. John Delony shared some life-changing truths about anxiety that will help you to heal and move forward with hope.

Create margin

A non-anxious existence is about “solving for peace” in all aspects of life, including your financial decisions, career choices and personal relationships. A powerful way to be better able to handle unexpected challenges and maintain that peace is to introduce some margin. Don’t put yourself under so much pressure. Instead, give yourself some wiggle room to maneuver if need be. That way, no matter what happens, you’ll have the space to deal with it without feeling crushed. It’s all about what helps you to sleep peacefully at night! Start by tackling your day-to-day time management. Creating breaks and deliberately factoring downtime into your schedule can significantly reduce stress and anxiety.

Get honest

If you want to reduce anxiety in your life, you can’t stick your head in the sand – you have to face reality and get really honest about your situation. What is the current state of your relationships, finances and health? Do you have strong connections with other people and a solid support system in place to help you? Friends, family and professional coaches are absolutely vital if you’re going to successfully navigate life’s challenges. What about your mindset? Do you believe in something bigger than yourself? Do you have a purpose that you work towards every day? Identifying a life’s purpose and meaning can help to decrease anxiety and increase overall well-being.

Nurture self-worth and belonging

Remember – you are worth being well! If you want to diminish anxiety and improve happiness, you must strongly believe in your own self-worth. We all need to feel valued and appreciated, so recognize that you are not a burden, really take care of yourself and prioritize your own needs and well-being.

Anxiety has a purpose. It’s not a disease or an indictment of character; it’s your body’s alarm system trying to get attention. To learn more about positively managing anxiety, listen to the latest episode of itsagoodlife.
