Don’t you forget about me . . .

Growing up one of my favorite movies was the 80’s John Hughes classic, The Breakfast Club. In fact, I loved it so much my High School Yearbook quote came from it. “You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions”. As an angst filled teen who felt out of place, this film really spoke to me. Each high school clique was represented (perhaps a bit stereo typed) but I think each character spoke to someone. My favorite part of the movie is when after a morning of “ice breakers” this group of kids (who initially feel they have nothing in common) come together and start to strip away the masks and walls of who they are perceived as by the outside world. They soon realize they have more in common with each other than they could ever imagine.

When I started working with Buffini Groups over a decade ago, my mind would often drift back to that particular scene. I discovered that that The Breakfast Club, although a Hollywood creation, is a great example of what a Buffini Group is. A collection of uniquely gifted and sometimes misunderstood individuals who share something very special….the Working By Referral philosophy. As Brian says, “It’s countercultural”.   Although, we aren’t all “a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess, or a criminal” we are all part of a special Community that will accept and support you in your journey to Living the Good Life.

Here is my encouragement to you…… If you are willing to look past what you think you know about others and you really want to share your ideas and gain some new ones from a bunch of people who are all a little “countercultural” join a Buffini Group!

Sincerely yours…..

Melanie
