Catch all the groundbreaking insights of Brian Buffini’s Mid-Year Bold Predictions 2024 , now available on-demand. Has there ever been a more complex time in the real estate industry? Brian gives you theinside scoop on what’s taking place behind the numbers. Watch now.

The summer months are typically when everything in real estate slows down. Vacations and celebrations interrupt the normal routines, work takes a back seat and people just want to relax. This summer, however, the focus will be different. As the market starts to make a comeback following the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s time to ramp things up, not slow them down!

According to David Stevens, CEO at Mountain Lake Consulting and former CEO of the Mortgage Bankers Association, real estate is going to be one of the first industries to bounce back. As a leader, it’s vitally important to get your team prepared and keep them motivated to deal with all of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Whether you’re a broker, an owner or a manager, here’s how you can keep your team strong and take advantage of the coming rebound this summer:

Prioritize the Rest-Run Cycle

No one can work in a peak state all of the time, and trying to do so is a surefire way to burn out. Rest is absolutely essential to boosting productivity and achieving lasting success. Make it clear to your team that they don’t have to give up their entire summer to business. To motivate them and keep their energy levels high, provide your agents with guidelines that focus on productivity sprints: they work at peak productivity for a few weeks and then take time off to rest, recharge and enjoy being with family and friends. Focusing on these productivity sprints will help your team to stay positive, upbeat and motivated to achieve. A bonus is that when they know they have a break to look forward to, they will be far more productive during their “on” weeks.

Host Team Events

During the pleasant summer weather, you should boost team bonding, strengthen relationships and build camaraderie by having some fun in the sun with your team. Many outdoor spaces are open for recreational purposes again, so you could arrange a socially distanced picnic at the park or on the beach, while making sure to follow all local and state health and safety guidelines. Fun team-building events like these will increase optimism, keep morale high and make agents want to be a part of your team.

Lead a Real Estate Training Course

Great training helps agents to boost their skills and learn to increase profitability, while also giving them another reason to be invested in their craft during the summer months. Great training can also bring team members in the office together, even when everyone isn’t in the same space.
