Many of us know we’re capable of achieving more in life, but we don’t know how. Often, reaching our full potential means struggling with hardship and difficulty, something we try to avoid. Ironically, these challenges can be the making of us! I recently recorded a podcast on how we can become more of ourselves and reach our potential. Here are the top takeaways:

When you’re not fulfilling your full potential, certain symptoms show up in your life:

•  You Know You’re Capable of More

Have you ever had a flash of something deep inside; a glimpse of what you’re capable of? This is exactly what you need to pursue! As Nelson Mandela said, “There is no passion to be found playing small and settling for a small life that is less than the one you’re capable of living.”

• You’re Constantly Justifying Your Situation

Most of us are very talented at making excuses for not pushing ourselves. It’s easy to justify staying comfortable, but, as Jim Rohn said, “If you really want to do something, you’ll find a way. If you don’t, you’ll find an excuse.”

• You Are Resentful of Other People’s Success

When we see somebody really going for it – and succeeding – we can be quick to criticize.  That’s envy at work! Instead of being envious, we should use our energy to believe in our own potential and go for it ourselves!

So, what’s holding us back from reaching our potential?

Fear

There are two types of fear in life: the fear of failure and the fear of success. We have to remember that failure is not the opposite of success; it’s part of it. The fear of success, meanwhile, shows up in procrastination. We procrastinate because we fear the success we will achieve if we act. Success means accepting responsibility, which is something we often want to swerve.

An Absence of Written Goals

If you want to achieve, you must not only set goals, you must write them down. Written goals are transformative and they are far more likely to be met than goals that are not committed to paper.

Isolation

Being isolated is very dangerous, especially when you’re pursuing your dreams. No-one does well alone; we all do better together. You must create strong bonds and connect with people if you want to fulfill your potential.

So, what do you need in order to tap into your unique set of potential, gifts and talents and go farther than you ever imagined?

A Coach

To get to where you want to go, you need someone to help you. Whether it’s physically, spiritually or financially, value yourself enough to get a coach.

Drive

No coach can put drive into you, but a good coach can pull whatever level of drive you have out.

Fuel

To drive, you need fuel! One fuel is motivation, and this is something you have to put on every day, just like your clothes. As Zig Ziglar once said, “People often say motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing. That’s why we recommend it daily.”

A Vehicle

Our business coaches have helped tens of thousands of business owners to go farther than they ever could have imagined. We can do the same for you! Check out www.buffini.com/bc for a free business consultation today.

Most people want to change their circumstances, but they don’t want to change themselves. But changing yourself is where the magic is! You need to direct your own success, as opposed to just hoping for it. And then you have to persevere and never give up. Do that and you will reach your full potential in life.
