When you’re the leader of a real estate team, you have a lot on your plate. As you ensure your agents have all they need to be successful, you’re probably overseeing your own transactions or administrative responsibilities too. There is never a dull moment for brokers, owners and team leaders!

But who says you have to do everything yourself?

Oftentimes team leaders feel like they have to take everything on solo. The truth is, you’re allowed — and expected — to delegate!

Learning to delegate certain tasks can save you tons of time, energy and effort. When you aren’t stretched as thin, you’ll feel more organized and confident with your business. Plus, you can use the extra time to create more real estate training opportunities that boost agents’ bottom lines. Getting started on your delegation strategy is easy.

Seek Out an Assistant  

Identify which of your tasks can be offloaded. List all your responsibilities, then label the ones that could be assigned to someone else. For many, these are administrative tasks and transaction coordination.

Review your list, and write up a job description for your ideal assistant or transaction coordinator. List everything you would need them to do, then begin searching for someone who can help.

Play to Your Team’s Strengths

Delegation isn’t just for the administrative tasks either. We’ve all got our own unique strengths — if there’s a part of the job that’s slowing you down, or something you don’t really love, don’t be afraid to ask for help. Chances are, there’s an agent on your team who enjoys those things, and would love to take it on if they have the bandwidth. This creates a win-win for you and the other agent.

Focus on What Matters

A business leader that delegates is able to free up more time for team building and education. When you redistribute your tasks, you can commit more energy toward real estate training opportunities and mentorship for your agents.
