In today’s very competitive market, agents need to be at the top of their game if they want to serve their clients well. In a recent Facebook Live, I tackled some of the common issues facing today’s real estate professionals given the current hot market. Here are the top takeaways:

Represent Clients With Integrity

The market is currently overheated, and indicators show that it’s going to stay that way for a while. In this sort of challenging environment, you need to be straight with your clients. Let them know that they may have to be more aggressive, bid over the asking price and waive contingencies to get a property they really want. However, you must also remind and reassure them that you’re there to fight for their best interests and to ensure they don’t make any short-term decisions that will have long-term implications. The good news about buying in this kind of market is that if you lock in a low interest rate and hold a property for long enough, it’s a hedge against inflation.

Teach Your Clients to Refer You

The way to get people to give to you is to give to them first! If you want clients to refer you, provide value. Keep in touch with calls, notes and Pop-Bys and regularly send Items of Value they might find educational and beneficial. Then, strive to become the absolute connector for your database. You want your customers to know that if they need anything, from home repairs to home loans, they can call you and you will know someone who can help them out. Being a trusted resource like this means that you build a presence in the minds of your clients. Then, when somebody in their circle mentions real estate, they instantly think of and refer you. Remember, too, to ask for referrals. If you’ve done a great job and provided exemplary service, you can ask your customers to refer you. You’re never too busy for referrals!

Help Clients Moving Out of State

With working from home becoming more and more popular these days, many people are not just changing houses – they’re relocating out of state. Just because a client moves far away doesn’t mean that your relationship with them has to end, however. You can still serve these customers by finding them a Buffini & Company trained agent who can assist them in the market they’re moving to. The Buffini Referral Network is an invaluable resource that will help you find a trusted professional who can do a great job for your clients, with the added bonus that you will get a referral fee. Even when they’re gone, touch base with your old clients on a regular basis, just in case they know someone in your area who needs a home – or they ever decide to move back!

In today’s hot market, agents have to stay grounded and solid for their customers. By the way, it’s easier to thrive with a real estate coach by your side. Buffini & Company One2One Coaching pairs agents with a certified real estate coach who offers guidance and strategies to help the agent succeed in any market.
