Albert Einstein once said, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.” In 2020, life was off-balance because COVID-19 stopped the world’s momentum. With movement restricted, people everywhere experienced fear, indecision and a loss of motivation that was sometimes crippling. With the new year beginning, however, the time is right to get moving and gain momentum again. Here’s how you can rev up, achieve your full potential and succeed in 2021:

Momentum

When you feel momentum, the wind is at your back and you can fly. The opposite of that feeling is stagnation. This is the “in limbo” sensation that so many people experienced in 2020. To succeed this year, you need to kickstart your momentum again.

Momentum is vital to success because:

•  It Helps You to Accomplish More.

Momentum means you go faster and become more efficient. As Og Mandino once said, “Action will destroy your procrastination.”

•  It Gives You an Advantage.

Momentum builds confidence and puts you in a state of creative flow where your enthusiasm increases and your energy starts to move.

• It Moves You Towards Your Goals.

Momentum compounded with habits produces results. As Darren Hardy says, “The rhythm of daily action aligned with your goals creates the momentum that separates dreamers from super-achievers.”

To really succeed in 2021, you must initiate, gain and maintain momentum.

  • Initiate Momentum

If you want to initiate momentum, short-term goals will get you started. Short-term goals, set out in ten-day increments, are the best way to start momentum and begin to recover financially, personally or physically from a tough year. Buffini & Company’s ten-day goal sheet is a powerful way to tick off short-term goals, see what you’ve accomplished and pinpoint where you can improve.

  • Gain Momentum

When you don’t take action and move forward, you’re not just staying put, you’re losing. You need to initiate momentum with short-term goals and then you must gain momentum with longer, ten-month written goals. Short-term goals get you started; mid-range goals keep you going.

  • Maintain Momentum

It’s one thing to get to the top of the ladder, it’s another thing to stay there. To maintain success, you need long-range, five-year goals. The ten-day goals get you started, the ten-month goals keep you going and the five-year goals give you hope. This should be the big picture.

If you get off to a great start, you can have a great year! To learn more, listen to the latest episode of “It’s a Good Life”.
