Our Favorite Books: Staff Edition

Buffini Coaching LIVE is a free, virtual event that will give you the strategies, tools, and confidence to own 2026 from day one. On Jan. 22 Brian Buffini will be joined by industry thought leaders who will share tactics to help you create the breakthroughs, habits and mindset to win. Learn more here.

In April, we posted a handy guide to “Start a Virtual Book Club” for anyone who is motivated to connect and grow while practicing social distancing. It turns out a lot of you are—and that you’re already looking for more book recommendations!

Of course, master motivator Brian Buffini has his recommended reading list which many of us know and love. We also wanted to see what our team of Servant Leaders have been reading — here are some of their favorite books right now!

Atomic Habits” by James Clear

Recommended by Derek Jones, Director of Community Relations

“This is the best book I have read about how to establish habits. My biggest takeaway is to stop judging your habits as “good” or “bad” and instead to consider if those habits are effective tools to help you become the person that you want to be.”

Grit by Angela Duckworth

Recommended by Ava Anderson, Executive Assistant

“I love the thoughtful research that shows the critical factors of success. It’s not just talent! Perseverance and determination can get you just as far as natural gifts.”

The Magic of Thinking Big” by David Schwartz

Recommended by Ed Sablan, Director of Product Development

“I appreciate this reflection on mindset and attitude to allow you think bigger and inspire you to strive for bigger goals.”

The Second Mountain” by David Brooks

Recommended by Georgia Murphy, Business Coach

“This book explores the four commitments that define a life of meaning and purpose —all things that are important to me and resonate during this trying time. It explores commitments to: spouse and family, vocation, philosophy or faith and to a community.”

A Return to Love” by Marianne Williamson

Recommended by Krystal Dawkins, Video Coordinator/Script Writer

“My favorite topic is love and this book discusses it in all its forms! It’s a great reminder of what is truly important and that no matter what faction you belong to, love is universal.”

We have hundreds of Servant Leaders from all walks of life and are excited to share this list with you. We hope these suggestions are useful and that they motivate you to read in solidarity with us, your friends and families. Stay safe and healthy.
