In today’s quick-fix world, many people just give up when they don’t instantly get what they want. The truth is, true success requires perseverance. You can’t quit when you encounter challenges in life, you have to keep going if you want to win. Here are some top tips to help you persist when the going gets tough.
Become resilient
It’s no fun when things don’t go your way, but the key to success is to become resilient. Resilient people aren’t put off by failure; they see it as a learning opportunity not to fail again in the future. Take a leaf from their book and learn from your past – when it’s been good, repeat and refine; when it hasn’t worked out, go back to the drawing board to figure out a new path. Naturally, you’ll be disappointed and frustrated by failure, but you have to ask yourself: What can I learn? How can I do better? How can I persevere and keep going?
Have a made-up mind
Successful people make up their minds to win long before they ever experience their first victory. We all inevitably encounter difficulties in this life but, no matter what you’re struggling with – health, finances, relationships – having a made-up mind will help you to persevere and surmount every hurdle in your way.
The components of a made-up mind are:
- You never give up. You know that failure isn’t the opposite of success but a part of it, so you always keep fighting and trying.
- You’re resolute. You’re determined to overcome setbacks and succeed in reaching your goals, no matter what.
- You focus on your wins. You’re more focused on your wins and achievements than your losses. Even the smallest win reinforces your resolve.
- You attract likeminded people. Birds of a feather flock together. You develop positive relationships with people of a similar mindset.
- You become a winner. No one can win all the time but, with a made-up mind, the odds are more in your favor.
The good life doesn’t happen without perseverance. There will always be obstacles to overcome but, if you have a made-up mind and you persevere, the challenges will make the sweet times even sweeter in the end. To learn more, listen to the latest episode of “It’s a Good Life” today!
