Setting goals is a vitally important part of your business plan. It helps you to focus on your priorities and work on what is most important. It’s also essential that you establish and celebrate benchmarks along the way.
Here are some tips from Buffini & Company’s experienced real estate coaches on reaching the goals that matter to you.
We have all heard the term “mindset.” What does that actually mean? Simply put, mindset is the self-perceptions or beliefs that you hold about how you conduct your life and your business.
For Buffini & Company’s coaches, mindset is the most important thing their clients must focus on this year.
“Mindset is paramount,” Coach James Bell said. “You’re either fueling your future with your mindset or you are staying parked in the past. Decide where you want to head.”
Coach Peggy Alexander agreed, noting that it was “important to put your blinders on” and focus on what you can control versus what you cannot.
“Don’t worry about everything else that’s going on,” she said. “Are you hitting your numbers, are you doing what you need to do day by day, week by week? If so, you’ll plow through this.”
Know Your Why
Sometimes we don’t reach our real estate goals because they are not realistic or “big enough” for the sacrifice required, Bell said.
“You need to know ‘why’ this business is important to you,” he said. “What is your motivation for doing this work?”
After you establish your main goal, break it down into smaller ones. These, along with accompanying accountability steps along the way, can make reaching your main goal easier. To keep you motivated along the way, be sure to celebrate little milestones as you hit them.
Accountability Is a Powerful Tool
Sharing your goals with others will help you be accountable. Tell your team leader, coach or accountability partner why you are in this business and the goals you have set. Ask them to help hold you to your plan.
If needed, ask for help. Too often we are embarrassed to admit we are not reaching our goals. Working with a coach can offer a clear, unbiased perspective as well as feedback and strategies to help you move forward.
Buffini & Company’s coaches all have years of experience, helping clients through every possible type of real estate market. They work with clients at every level of their careers, from those starting out to those who have been in the business for many years.
The real estate coaches at Buffini & Company know many agents may be rattled by the changing market. However, Bell believes this current market can actually make you a stronger agent. He says in order for this to happen it is critical to get training and coaching to help strengthen your skillset.
“This market will make people’s careers,” he added. “But it’s going to challenge your skillset and value delivery. Some people will leave, some will freeze, but 10-15% will see this as an opportunity.”
